How To Play Thrive by Casting Crowns

Thrive by Casting Crowns l LadyDpiano

 My husband loves the song "Thrive" by Casting Crowns. Another favorite that my readers enjoy, Praise You In This Storm seems to be so comforting and hopeful when one is going through rough times. One of my favorites is Who Am I by Casting Crowns.

Here's the video to Thrive if you're not familiar with the song.

This coming Sunday is Palm Sunday. Our family will be going to church and probably catch the early morning service. Then head back home for a time of fellowship and food with family and friends. How will you be spending your day? Hopefully, it will be a relaxing and inspiring one for you.

Perhaps you are a young musician who will be serving on the worship team at your local church. There are so many songs appropriate for the upcoming holiday. This one, Hosanna, is very popular and it's one of my favorites by Hillsong. Are you familiar with it?

Hosanna: Praise Is Rising

Hosanna: Paul Baloche (LadyDpiano.com)

Palm Sunday is fast approaching on us. By the way, Happy Spring! I always think of songs that have the lyrics, Hosanna in them around this time of year. Hillsong United did a song, Hosanna that I posted awhile back, along with the chords, but this new one is completely different. I like it! Do you sing it in your church? Here's the video:

With the introduction, play the A in the right hand, E-A-C#. Sometimes play it with C#-E-B.
Play the B in the r.h., D-F#-B and C#m with E-G#-B. Lastly, for F#m7 in the right hand you will want to play C#-F#-B.

I think it's a real cool song, very upbeat! Listen to it on YouTube:

How To Play I Want To Be Where You Are

I Just Want To Be Where You Are: LadyDpiano
Wisteria Flower Tunnel in Japan

 A beautiful worship song that I  have loved to play with the worship team in the past, is a song by Don Moen called,  I want To Be Where You Are. It was written in 1989 and it's in the Key of G with 4/4 time signature. Here's the chord chart that I found in my music library.

Verse 1

G              Am7                        G2/B  C
I just want to be where you are

                D                 C/G  G
Dwelling daily in Your presence

Em7                   Am7                 G2/B   C
I don’t want to worship from afar

                  D                              G  C/G  D/G  G
Draw me near to where You are

 Verse 2

                    Am7                     G2/B  C
I just want to be where You are

                D                 C/G  G
In Your dwelling place forever

Em7                  Am7                          G2/B   C
Take me to the place where You are

                      D                            G  C/G  D/G  G
Cause I just want to be with You

 Chorus

                              Am7   C/D
I want to be where You are

                            D/G  G    D/E
Dwelling in Your presence

Em                       Am7    C/D
Feasting at Your table

Surrounded by Your glo - ry

     D    D/C       C     C/D

That’s where I always want to be

C         D          Eb        F                       G

You are my strength and my song

        Bm                        Em

In Your dwelling place forever

Em7                   Am7                        G2/B   C
Take me to the place where You are

               D       Eb            F                       G   G2/B   C
I just want to be, I just want to be with You

               D       Eb            F                         G
I just want to be, I just want to be with You

I'm sure you can play the song from the chord chart but I thought I'd post some slash chords and share with you how I play the song. There's a lot of third intervals in the melody to give the song that added harmony because the words are so beautiful to sing and listen to.

There Is Power: Lincoln Brewster

LadyDpiano: There Is Power (chords) : Lincoln Brewster

 If you're looking for a simple chord chart to There Is Power, you'll find it, here. Integrity Praise Music released the chords to the song in 2014 by Lincoln Brewster and Mia Fieldes. Here's what I'm playing and then I'll break it down for you.

Intro:

G2  Asus  Bm7  Asus  G2  Asus

 Verse 1:

Bm7    F#m     G2
 Where two or more are gathered in his name
 Bm7 F#m G2
 He is there, oh
Bm7   F#m      G2
 For all who come, who run to him in faith
 Bm7 F#m G2
 He is there

Chorus:
         G2                    A
There is power in the name of Jesus
Bm7   A   G2                  A
There is power, power in his name
          G2                   A
There is power in the name of Jesus
Bm7   A  G2                   A
There is power, power in his name

Verse 2:

Bm7       F#m    G2
 No fear, no lie can stand against us now
Bm7  F#m G2
 He is here, whoa
Bm7       F#m    G2
 The word has come to silence every doubt
Bm7  F#m G2
 He is here

(Chorus)

Instrumental:
G    Asus  Bm  A  G  Asus  Bm  A

Bridge:

G
One name, one name can save
Asus      Bm         A
 One name breaks every chain
G
 One name, always
Asus       Bm  A
 One name, Je-sus
G
 One name, one name remains
Asus       Bm        A
 One name, we will proclaim
G
 One name, always
Asus Bm
 One name

(Chorus x2)

Ending:
G           A
 Woah-ah-oh-oh
          Bm       A
 There's power in his name
G           A
 Woah-ah-oh-oh
            Bm   A    G2
 There's power in his name
G
 Woah-ah-oh-oh   Woah-ah-oh-oh

So, there's lots of octaves played in the left hand throughout the chorus. With the intro, the melody notes in the right hand have sets of sixteenth notes in a measure. It looks like this:

G2 = G/D, C#, D, A (single notes)
Asus = A/D, C#, D, A
Bm7 = B/D, A, D, C#
Asus = A/D, C#, D, E
G2 = G/D, C#, D, A
Asus = A/D, C#, D, A

This right hand pattern continues through the chorus and you can play it an octave higher, too.

Second verse goes like this:

Bm = B/F#BD
F#m = F#/F#AC#
G = G/GBD
Asus = A/ADE

If you're not familiar with this fast pace song, listen to it on YouTube
I think you'll really like it.

I just love how the fast run towards the ending softens and fades away.

Enjoy!

Learn To Play 10, 000 Reasons

Matt Redman: 10,000 Reasons
Jesus Culture Long beach

 Over the summer I attended Jesus Culture in Long Beach, California. The huge hall quickly filled up with young people and the worship band began to play this beautiful song by Matt Redman.

Westin Hotel in Long Beach, California

We stayed at a beautiful place called the Westin Hotel. The facilities were grand and we walked a short distance to the conference. I hope you get the chance to hear this particular song in corporate worship. Perhaps you've played it on the worship team. If you're not familiar with the melody, here it is on YouTube.

Still my soul will sing Your praise unending:

Ten thousand years and then fore - - vermore!

Coda:

I'll worship Your holy name.
C            D       G
Yes, I'll worship Your holy name.

It's a real easy song to play. For a C chord, I use this
inversion (G-C-E) and for a G chord, play (D-G-B)
