I'm home now. I am refreshed and encouraged by the youth of America, seeing young people worship at Jesus Culture. It was an amazing time for so many! I wanted to introduce a fairly easy song to play, along with the harmonizing of the melody with vocals. The intro starts out with a straight forward beat and then the pattern of the rhythm changes with the verse. You will be recycling the chorus pattern over and over.
If you're not familiar with the song, here it is on YouTube.
Open
up, ancient gates! Open up, ancient doors, and let the King of glory
enter. Who is the King of glory? The LORD of Heaven's Armies--he is the
King of glory.

I found the guitar and bass chords online:

Verse
Dm_________________Bb________ Your face outshines the brightest sun ________F__________Am____________ Jesus, You're glorious, You are so glorious __Dm_______________Bb_______ With eyes that blaze like burning fire ________F_________Am_____________ Jesus, You're glorious, You are so glorious
Chorus
Dm________Bb___________ King of Glory, have your glory Dm/B______Dm__Bb__C/B_C_ King of Glory, have your glo - ry
Verse 2 (Play the same chords as first verse)
Your voice like rushing waters sounds Jesus, You're powerful, You are so powerful And in Your hands You hold the stars Jesus, You're powerful, You are so powerful
The king referred to in Psalm 24 is repeatedly described as the King of
glory. Glory means the state of being magnificent, splendid,
extraordinary, and praiseworthy. Still, the psalmist does not name this
King. Who is this King of glory?
You'll find Spanish words to the song, here. Also, a slow version with tutorial of the song found here. If you need to change the key for your worship team and want an easy way to do it, see Instant Transposer Software
Chord Breakdown
Basically, your right hand is playing Dm (DFA), then change the chord to AM (CEA)

Now, if you want to invest in some software to learn about changing keys and modulating, this resource is for PC and MAC...It's called Instant Transposer Software and you can learn all about it.
I'm heading out in a few minutes to experience a worship concert and seminar event in SoCal. Should be fun and very interesting. So, I'm taking a little time off from blogging and teaching... a much needed rest. I'll be back to tell you all about it. You know, what I found out and learned.
In the meantime, I have received emails from so many of my readers expressing needs in these areas:
1. reading music notes on the staff
2. understanding chord charts
3. more riffs and turnarounds
4. color chords
5. pattern playing
b. 26 January 1970, Fort Worth, Texas, USA. A
meteoric success story in gospel music, a genre more usually associated
with the longevity of its artists, Franklin made a huge impact with his
1993 debut. A fixture at the top of the US Contemporary Christian and
Gospel charts, and the first platinum selling gospel album, it featured
powerful performances from the 17-piece "Family" of musicians and
singers, many of whom were drawn from Franklin's home town of Fort
Worth, Texas.
Franklin was raised by his aunt as a strict Baptist, and he was leading
the Mt. Rose Baptist Church choir by the time he was 11. Despite a
troubled and rebellious teenage period, by his early twenties Franklin
was writing material for gospel greats including Rev. Milton Biggham,
Daryl Coley, Yolanda Adams and Rev. John P. Kee. The success of his
debut saw the Family booked to appear on syndicated USA television
programme The Arsenio Hall Show, while contemporary artists as diverse
as Ice Cube and R. Kelly paid public respect to their craft. Subsequent
albums established Franklin
and his bands (God's Property and Nu Nation) as probably contemporary
gospel's biggest and most commercially successful artist, and have
featured guest appearances from artists including Kelly, Bono and Mary
J. Blige. He has also topped the US R&B charts on several occasions,
most notably with the 1997 single "Stomp" and the attendant God's
Property From Kirk Franklin's Nu Nation, while his 2007 release The
Fight Of My Life broke into the mainstream Top 40. Franklin has won five Grammys in addition to numerous Stellar Awards.

I am surrounded with all five grandchildren this week because we are having a family reunion at our home. Oh my, it will be soooo nice to see everyone again. Today we will probably have a jam session in the music studio and also at the outdoor music wall, but I wanted to let you know today about a free online source where you can create your own word clouds. They're easy to make for your business, blog site or personal use. Just type in a few things, click on the options that you prefer and quickly you will have made a word picture. You can find the tool at, http://www.tagxedo.com/
I am so thankful for family and friends... You guys are great, and I wanted to wish all my readers a very Happy 4th of July!
