How To Play God Bless America

Patriotic Song: God Bless America l LadyDpiano.com

This is a very cool arrangement of a popular song by Irving Berlin. It's pretty famous. In fact, it's one of my aunt's favorites. Wherever you are this holiday weekend, I hope your hearts are filled with thanksgiving and praise for this great country of ours. Keep praying for one another and sing loudly!

Ten Years Later: 9/11-11

Flowers by the Sea

9/11 is a very personal memory for me. You see, my friend Tom McGuinness was the Co-Pilot on that day, the first plane to hit the tower. He and his wife and their two kids, Tommy and Jennifer went to our church (Riverview). Many times I saw their smiles out in the lobby and at a friend's home fellowship group. All that changed on 9/11, as you know. They had 2 Memorial services for Tom, one on the East Coast and one on the West Coast at my church. I played the keyboard, along with the worship team, as my best friend Beth sang "God Bless America," while watching a very brave wife, Cheryl and her son and daughter, sitting in the front row.

Many of the  military representatives were there, along with the news media and after our song, Cheryl (a very brave woman) made her way for the stage to share her thoughts to a crowd that overflowed from the church, out over the lawn, to the parking lot.  Tom's wife shared that it was a normal morning of having breakfast, sharing devotions,  hugging one another, saying goodbye with a  tender, "I love you."

Little did she know at that moment she'd be saying goodbye to her husband for the very last time. You know the rest of the story. Where were you when the towers were hit? It is indeed a time for solemn reflection and prayer today. You know, everyone knew someone that was in this terrible tragedy. I thank you for listening to my story. Please say a prayer for the Mc Guinness family and for all, especially the United States of America. May it be a peaceful day for us all.

 In honor of Tom McGuinness

Irving Berlin
God Bless America lyrics

While the storm clouds gather far across the sea,
Let us swear allegiance to a land that's free.
Let us all be grateful for a land so fair,
As we raise our voices in a solemn prayer:

God bless america
, land that I love,
Stand beside her and guide her
Through the night with a light from above.
From the mountains, to the prairies,
To the oceans white with foam,
God bless america,
My home sweet home.

I think my favorite clip that touches my heart is the song from Alan Jackson. How about you?
