While [Jesus] was on the way to Jerusalem, He was passing between Samaria and Galilee. — Luke 17:11 (NASB)He was headed to Jerusalem. He was headed to the cross.
This is why He came.
One of my favorite online blogging friends is Yoke Wong. If you haven't met her yet, please visit her site at http://www.pianomother.com Anyways, she has arranged a beautiful song I'm sure you're familiar with, "The Old Rugged Cross" that was written by George Bennard. Have you played it before? Her arrangement of the song is written in the Key of Bb. Yoke has thrown in some grace notes to give it that country twang sound. I like it!
First, here is the chord chart in key of A:
A A7 D B7 On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross, E E7 A The emblem of suff'ring and shame; A A7 D B7 And I love that old cross where the dearest and best E E7 A For a world of lost sinners was slain. E E7 A So I'll cherish the old rugged cross. D A Till my trophies at last I lay down; A D I will cling to the old rugged cross, A E A And exchange it some day for a crown. Oh that old rugged cross, so despised by the world. Has a wondrous attraction for me, For the dear Lamb of God left His glory above, To bear it to dark cavalry. In the old rugged cross, stained with blood so divine, A wondrous beauty I see. For 'twas on that old cross Jesus suffered and died To pardon and sanctify me. To the old rugged cross, I will ever be true, Its shame and reproach gladly bear, Then He'll call on some day to my home far away, Where His glory forever I'll share.
